Privacy policy
TrueSeeker is operated by Future Thesis Lab Technologies, Dubai International Financial Centre, United Arab Emirates.
This fact-check bot investigates factual claims you send it by Instagram direct message and replies with a verdict. It is automated, not a human. This page explains what data it handles, who processes it, how long it is kept, and how to delete it.
What we collect
When you message the bot we store your Instagram-scoped sender ID, your username if available, the message you sent (its text, any link, or a post you shared), and bookkeeping about the request (timestamps, status, and the cost of the check). If you send an image to be checked, that image is stored with the fact-check record so the result stays auditable. We do not read your other conversations, and we do not store voice notes or videos.
We use this data to check your claim, reply to you, apply fair-use limits, and publish the finished fact-check result.
Who processes it
- Fly.io: hosts the bot and its database.
- Meta: delivers your messages to the bot and its replies to you.
- Anthropic: the language model that investigates the claim and drafts the verdict. It receives the claim content.
- OpenAI: transcribes the audio of a linked video, when a check needs it.
- xAI (Grok API), used to read public posts on X when a claim cites one.
- Apify, used to read public posts and pages that our ordinary fetch cannot read.
- Supabase: stores backups of fact-check records, which include the claim content.
- Telegram: when you first message the bot, the operator is sent your Instagram-scoped sender ID and username in a private Telegram message. Finished fact-check results are posted to a public Telegram channel without your identity.
- TrueSeeker's other fact-check services, run by the same operator: a claim that belongs to another of them is forwarded there with your sender ID and message, so that service can reply to you.
- TrueSeeker's image service, run by the same operator: it receives finished fact-check results to make images of them. Where illustrated covers are switched on, it sends a description of the claim to an image-generation model.
How long we keep it
Raw message payloads, message text, and claim hints are deleted after 90 days. Your sender ID and username are kept until you ask for them to be deleted. Finished fact-check results are kept in a public archive, and an image you sent to be checked is kept with its fact-check record.
How to delete your data
Send the bot a message that says delete my data (any capitalization). It will confirm and then delete your messages, your profile identifiers, and your request history. Removing the app in your Instagram settings sends Meta's data deletion request, which triggers the same deletion, and you will receive a confirmation code with a status page link. You can also ask for deletion by email to shayan@ftlab.ai. Anonymized fact-check results remain in the archive because they contain nothing that identifies you.
